On Friday last, we began the long journey home from BUE to DUB via FRA. We left the hostel at 11am and 2 minibuses brought us to the airport. We were slightly early for check-in but it opened soon enough. After everyone was checked in, Brenda said a few words about the trip and presented everyone with a small keepsake. After that, we were all given money for lunch and everyone headed off to grab something to eat in the various restaurants. After lunch, we headed through security and some people indulged in some duty free shopping. It was soon time to board the plane and head for Frankfurt – a 13 hour flight. After getting on the massive double decker plane and heading down the back (where the whole group was seated), it was clear that there was going to a lot of empty seats. When boarding was complete, everyone could swap and change seats as the liked (some even got a whole row of seats to themselves). Most people slept or watched some films and there was plenty of food, drinks and attention from the cabin-crew due to the lack of people on-board. After a comfortable flight, we got off the plane and went through another security check in Frankfurt which was so much more stringent than the one in Buenos Aires. Pauline’s bag failed the explosives test and they suspected that her hairbrush some sort of explosive haha. Mairtin’s and Gareth’s bags were also given a good search. Luckily, they were all given the all clear. The whole group went off to have our last meal together in a restaurant in the airport. The food was very tasty! After that, we had some free time to look around the shops and we all met at the gate to board our flight to Dublin. We got on the plane which was fully booked but it was only a short hop (less than 2 hours). We arrived back in Dublin and collected our bags from the carousel. We headed through the arrivals door to find a welcoming party with banners and posters waiting!
